Specialties: Founded in 1905, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry was the first dental school in Texas and continues to lead dental education today, with a vision of enriching the lives and health of our community and the world through patient care and research — our foundation in the pursuit of excellence in education.
The School of Dentistry’s three-part mission of education, patient care and research aims to advance human health by providing high-quality education, patient care and research in oral health for Texas, the nation and the world. Established in 1905. UTHealth School of Dentistry was founded in 1905 as the Texas Dental College, the first dental school in Texas and first professional school in Houston. The School of Dentistry offers three levels of service in general dentistry. If cost is your major concern, our Student Clinics provide the most affordable care, but please allow extra time for each appointment, as students work at a slow and careful pace under faculty supervision. If your time is precious, appointments with our Faculty Practice (UT Dentists) typically last about 45 minutes. If your needs fall somewhere in between, take a look at our Graduate Clinics, where new dentists gain experience and expertise in their chosen specialties. Patients who are experiencing dental pain can visit our walk-in clinic for limited urgent care.
